FG To Pay ASUU N23 Academic Allowance




Federal Government has finalized its plans to pay the academic staff union of universities ASUU the N23 Billion it owed, as earned allowances. This was contained in a document of the resolution reached between Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions/Tetfund, ASUU, NUC, Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders.

According to the document, also states that “The government has offered to pay N1 billion monthly for six months, while the balance up to 2016 would be paid at the end of the forensic audit of universities accounts.

The resolution also urged federal government to resume its “quarterly release of N55 billion that would be ring-fenced for the purpose of massive injection of funds to deposition Nigeria universities.”

While in the meantime ASUU has relented on its plans to go on strike due to recent compliance by FG.
