Akwa Ibom State Poly Suspends Plans To Increase School Fees By 100%

The council governing Akwa Ibom state polytechnic (AKWAPOLY) has suspended their plans to increase the current school fees of students by 100%. This was brought about by the agitations and protests carried out by the students of the school.

According to governing council's chairman Dr. Eyakenyi, this decision to suspend the increment was to enable the council look into new policies and implement them in ways that would be beneficial to both the school's council and the students at large.

Ordinary National Diploma OND were meant to start paying N86,500 instead of N45,00, and Higher National Diploma were meant to also pay N85,700 instead of the initial N38,00. Which lead to the peaceful protest embarked by the students earlier this week. Monday to be precise.

He asks students to withdraw from unnecessary protest to avoid further damages that might be inflicted to both the school's reputation and among individuals.
